AdventureMotorcycle.com - Cobrra NEMO 2: To Lube or Not to Lube?

Cobrra NEMO 2: To Lube or Not to Lube? Published in: Gear Let’s face it, many of us neglect our motorcycle chains on a regular basis. Even worse, we don’t even feel bad about it. Everyone knows why chain maintenance is important, so if lubing a chain isn’t hard to do or time consuming, why don’t we do it? The simple fact of the matter is, sometimes we get lazy. But what if you didn’t have to get on your knees and get your hands dirty? Better yet, what if lubing your chain was as simple as a flick of the wrist? How about a product that lubes your chain without the installation of vacuum lines or wiring it to a power source? Meet the NEMO 2. The NEMO 2 by Cobrra is designed to simplify the chain lubing process. The unit is manually pressurized and consists of three interconnected work chambers that provide continuous oil displacement under pressure. A ¼ turn on the reservoir dial activates the NEMO 2 to create approximately 3 minutes of oil flow to lube the chain. The system works as you’re cruising around town at lower speeds and stops automatically. Cobrra recommends using 80W gear oil, but you can use different weight oils based on the climate you live in. For example if you live in a colder climate, use lighter weight oil. Directions to install the NEMO 2 are straight forward. The kit comes with plenty of tubing, enabling riders to be creative with where to mount the system. Cobrra recommends mounting the reservoir on the handle bar for easy access, but I opted for a different mounting point that wouldn’t clutter-up my handlebar area. When installation is somewhere other than the handlebars, make sure the unit can be fully unscrewed to make sure you have enough clearance for re-filling. It is also important that the top of the NEMO 2 be level for proper oil flow. After thousands of miles of mixed on and off road riding, the NEMO 2 is functioning properly. The biggest difference between this system and others is the small manual input (the ¼ turn twist) needed to activate the unit. Other lubers either use a vacuum line to work constantly or a button activated electronic system. In reality, the NEMO 2 is an analog luber instead of an auto luber, which could in many ways could be more reliable, and its still far more convenient than manually lubing a chain. The reservoir holds enough oil for multiple uses and I’ve found that I need refills only every 3,000 miles. All in all if you have a chain driven motorcycle, why wouldn’t you want this on your bike. It’s a simple to use product at a great price that’ll help you give your chain and sprockets the attention they deserve.
