AMA And ASRA Expand To Select CCS Events The AMA will sanction Championship Cup Series races that run in conjunction with ASRA events in 2017. Begin Press Release: American Motorcyclist Association and American Sportbike Racing Association expand partnership to select Championship Cup Series events PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association has expanded its partnership with the American Sportbike Racing Association to sanction Championship Cup Series races that run in conjunction with ASRA events beginning with the 2017 season. The 2017 season kicks off at Daytona Beach Bike Week, which includes the AMA-sanctioned Daytona 200. “ASRA is an important partner in growing both amateur and professional road racing in the United States,” said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant. “We welcome the CCS riders to the ranks of AMA membership and their support as the AMA promotes the motorcycle lifestyle and protects the future of motorcycling in America.” ASRA President Kevin Elliott said his organization is looking forward to working closer with the AMA in 2017. “The American Sportbike Racing Association is pleased to continue its partnership with the American Motorcyclist Association for 2017,” Elliott said. “ASRA is proudly expanding its relationship with the AMA by bringing select Championship Cup Series races into the agreement, allowing the CCS rider an easier path to professional racing as well as access to all the other benefits of AMA membership.” With this partnership, ASRA has expanded access to AMA-approved insurance, AMA ratification and recognition of results, and the opportunity to develop a clear path to professional licensing for those riders who aspire to race with MotoAmerica, the home of the AMA Superbike Championship. “This is a natural progression of the ASRA/AMA relationship, giving more benefits and opportunities to the CCS competitor along with making these events open to international racers who would like to test the waters in the United States,” Elliott said.
